More than 100,000 people marched in Phoenix, Arizona on May 29th for human rights and to stop laws like SB1070 and HB2281. Media reports been sending out insane low numbers of 10,000??!! This is just a quick hit of RAW video to show what really happened.

May 12, 2010- Tucson Youth Rise Up • VOICES FROM THE AZ STRUGGLE
Tucson youth walked out of classrooms and conducted civil disobedience against the ban on ethnic studies in Arizona (HB2281) and against School Superintendent Tom Horne for his pledge to terminate ethnic studies in Tucson.  15 were arrested. Pan Left was forced out of the State building by State police when we were filming them arresting students.

UPDATE: as this video was being posted an alert has been sent out that Governor Brewer will sign SB1070 into law on Friday morning at 10 A.M. Take note and learn from these amazing youth in Arizona this past week. Arizona has fallen into a police state. Apartheid is happening. We ask all of those in solidarity in AZ, the U.S., and around the world to join in the struggle and resist this type of oppression.

Epilogue: The nine arrested, a.k.a. The Capitol 9, were released from jail the next morning. More protests, school walk outs, and direct actions are happening and escalating. A non-violent struggle has risen this week out of Arizona.

Sub. Marcos speaks at a Comisón de Sexta during la Otr@ Campaña in 2006.  Being there was a moment I will never forget and these words are even more relevant to me now more than ever.  One of Pan Left’s most viewed videos and hopefully it will bring more of us together in the struggle.

Que suave! Found this buried in my many files and glad I did.  I had produced a second video for Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta at the Calexico benefit show for Pan Left last year at the Rialto, and it’s a fantastic rendition of the Mostly Bears song, Leda Atómica.  Salvador Duran and Brian Lopez fit perfectly with this performance.  Y La Orkesta is a must see Live, but even more amazing is they go to great lengths to make every show unique and different.  Catch this band whenever you can!

Here’s the Puente Human Rights Caravan in D.C. on March 22 as they demonstrate at the Dept. of Justice in cold Washington rain to demand Attorney General Eric Holder indict Sheriff Joe Arpaio now. I wasn’t going to put this out there yet, as I’m working on getting the Arpaio related footage ready for mass consumption. However, Salvador Reza urged me to get some stuff out there ahora, and as usual, he was right. Puente in the rain is like watching fire blaze in water. Good to have them back in AZ . La lucha sigue, sigue.

It’s like the Autumn leaves are for the East. Out here in the Southwest, Tucson Fall means the All Souls Procession.
